I moved into Lumby 4 years ago with my partner Linda after a 2 year search to find a house in the country that was in commuting distance of Leeds and also Bradford. It had to off the main road in an area that was peaceful and tranquil, and at the same time was also accessible for Airports and Trains to London. Lumby was and is the dream place.

I am a Divisional Director of a large Construction Company and am very aware of the impact large developments can and do have on the community.

It was to my disbelief that the A1 Upgrade never appeared on any searches and furthermore the Construction Compound never needed any planning approvals, which included the Concrete Batching Plant and the Asphalt Plant together with the continued noise and light pollution.

I started with Andrew and Arthur and we forced the issue to be heard at a Regular Liaison meeting with RMG and Selby District Council and our local Councillors and Parish Members.

We discovered myriad problems and because of our concerns formed PLANET to gain weight to our cause.
Bill and Tom are now on the Parish Council.

Our aim is to keep Lumby as it was some 4years ago.

We are now fighting to prevent a Quarry and to ensure the Construction Compound is returned to farmland.
We need everybody to be passionate about where they live as who knows what is next after the Maltings?
