Message: To try and destroy this wonderful village is an outrage. The land is green belt and should remain so. No doubt the local farmers will be rubbing their greedy hands in glee as even more cash will come their way. They have allowed most of the farms and outbuildings to be converted, making a huge amount for the farmers. I am disgusted that they are willing to destroy such a precious shelter belt from the new A1. As a legal man myself i will support you all the way.

Message: I have to say that there is a ground swell of public opinion amongst local residents against the qurry proposal in Lumby. We already live in an area of power stations which cause pollution but we accept that as they were there before most of us came to Lumby. We have had three years of disruption caused by the re-routing of the A1 resulting in much greater traffic movements through Lumby, including contractors vehicles. The tarmac proposal for Ferrybridge was terminated due to much opposition in the area. Yet a tarmac plant was erected very close to our village giving off obnoxious fumes at all times of the day and night. Now the proposed quarry would mean at least 15 years of further disruption assuming the current proposed area for quarrying is not extended! What will follow the quarry would be the possibility of a waste disposal site that would last for many years, The residents of Lumby have had enough!!

Message: I use the areas round Lumby for country walks. I am dismayed that the proposed quarry will destroy yet another green area of our countryside, the more so in that it will also damage a peaceful and attractive village.

Message: My objections to the quarry are :- 1. Concerns over increased noise levels and dirt on the roads, and in the air: essentially enivronmnetal pollution. 2. Increased traffic. 3. Lowering of house prices. 4. Destruction of a rural village. The rural community moving to an industrial one. 5. Concerns over health. 6. Longer term, then any large 'hole in the ground' will be used for landfill which poses even larger threats to the village and its environments.

Message: I have posted and e mailed an objection to North Yorks. The area is a buffer between a much busier A1 and the village. It must be retained. The village is down wind from the proposed area and therfore would suffer from noise and dust. The redesignation to a preferred area must be strongly opposed.

Message: It is a great injustice to inflick more threats to our village and enviroment. We have three coal fired Power Stations nearby, we are just adapting to the A1M new road with the increase in noise levels and air polution. If the waste food Re-processing Plant gets the go ahead we will have to endur further air and noise polution. It is a small village the quarry will be a stones throw from our doorsteps and this is totally unacceptable.

Message: I have just lodged an objection to the proposal for redesignation to area of search. This proposal when considered with the other two similar proposals M24 Bay horse Farm Fairburn & M28 Redhill Selby Fork will have a massive detremental effect on the local area and community. The supporting information does not appear to cross reference each other with regard to vehicle movements, nuisance, environmental impact etc and surely all these sites should be considered collectively. It seems that this issue has been ushered in camouflaged by the A1M roadworks disruption which is wrong as this is only temporary blot on the otherwise picturesque and rural environment. Message: We have all suffered long enough with the impact of the adjacent Contractors site to build the A1 motorway. Having to suffer yet more noise, dust and traffic so clsoe to an existing village is outrageous to say the least! The visual impact alone will be dramatic in its effect on the local area! Is the proposed Contactor prepared to compensate all the local residents for the likely fall in house prices? The local infrastructure is busy enough and incapable of safely taking so much additional traffic, not to mention the impact of mud and limestone being left on the roads.

Message: I am very concerned at the proposed development of a quarry site adjacent to Lumby village. What with a waste/composting plant near S Milford and now a quarry. What happened to our quiet and peaceful environment? If we don't make a stand against these developments what will the next one be? It's bad enough having the village of SM expand by 20% due to new housing, but to have industrial complexes surrounding the area is just too much

Message: This is disgraceful! We are finally making progress in the area with the reunification of Fairburn with lower tarffic noise. A quarry would be disasterous to the tranquility, health, roads and local nature reserves!
